Life after cancer: Healing Beyond the Medical Treatment
You may have been given the “all clear” but feel permanently impacted by what you went through. Survivorship is a powerful milestone, but after treatment there can be unexpected challenges. Many cancer survivors face ongoing physical and emotional effects, including anxiety about recurrence, fatigue, and changes in relationships or identity. You may find yourself trying to “get back to normal” while still processing everything your body and mind have endured.
At VAHMP, it’s okay not to be okay. After everything you’ve gone through, it’s important to have space to process your cancer experiences and the emotional impact it has had. Together, we can help you integrate who you had to become to survive cancer with the person you were before. The end goal is to create a fuller, more authentic version of yourself that honors every part of your experience.
Every person’s journey is unique.
Some people come to therapy for a safe space to talk about fear and grief. Others want practical strategies to manage anxiety, depression, or stress. Whatever you’re seeking, we can find the right approach for you. We offer in-person services in Richmond, VA and virtual across 41 PSYPACT states for clients who prefer to minimize exposure due to medical or immune-related concerns.
